House of the Shared Sky
A freestanding Soviet Martian civic assembly hall and memorial on flat ground. The main building is a broad faceted fan in plan, with a wide shallow convex front and a narrower tall straight rear wall. Its opaque roof consists of five shallow sloping radial facets rising from the low front edge toward the rear; thin raised metal seams clearly resolve the facet junctions. A protected recessed clerestory runs beneath the upper rear roof edge, interrupted by solid ribs. Massive local sulfur-concrete shielding surrounds the subdivided steel pressure enclosure.
The front has three separate recessed rectangular airlocks beneath one thin cantilevered wedge canopy, supported at its root by the heavy front wall. Cream ceramic facing panels cover the public façade and canopy soffit; oxblood enamel forms the canopy edge, with a small raised five-point star at one end. Four iron-red ceramic panels beside the central entrance show a gloved hand supporting grain inside an orbital arc, including one pale replacement quadrant. A broad three-step approach has a shallow accessible ramp at the right end. Two low side elevations alternate blank ceramic-clad facets with narrow deeply recessed sealed windows; the tall rear exposes concrete buttresses, service hatches and muted maroon repair panels.
A detached memorial pylon stands to the left of the entrance on its own squat concrete base: two tapering pale fins of unequal height separated by a narrow vertical slot, joined near the top by a solid red enamel disc held between their inner faces. Keep the pylon lower than twice the rear wall height. Its rear has the same carefully finished ceramic cladding and visible panel joints. No giant glazing, open atrium, moving flags, floating objects or decorative industrial machinery.
